Engine remapping questions
Do I need to tell my insurer about a remap?
Yes. A remap is a modification to the car and should be declared to your insurer. Not declaring it could give them grounds to refuse a claim. Some insurers will ask for details of the work, and we are happy to describe what was done.
Will a remap affect my manufacturer's warranty?
It may. Manufacturers can decline warranty claims on parts they believe are affected by changes to the engine software. If your car is still under warranty, have that conversation with us before booking so you can make an informed decision.
Can a remap be reversed?
We keep a copy of your car's original ECU software before writing a new map, so in most cases the car can be returned to its original calibration. Ask us about your specific vehicle.
Which vehicles can you remap?
Many modern turbocharged petrol and diesel cars and vans can be remapped, but not every vehicle is a good candidate. Give us a call with the make, model and engine and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth doing.
How long does a remap take?
Allow most of a morning or afternoon. That includes the health check and diagnostics beforehand and a road test afterwards, which we will not skip. If the health check finds something that needs fixing first, we will tell you before going further.
